Our Process
Concept Art & Design
We worked closely with the game's art director to develop unique character concepts that aligned with the game's sci-fi aesthetic, creating detailed concept art and character sheets.
Base Mesh Modeling
Our 3D artists created base meshes with clean topology, ensuring they would be suitable for animation and game engine implementation.
High-Resolution Sculpting
Using ZBrush, we sculpted highly detailed versions of each character, adding fine details like wrinkles, scars, and surface textures.
Retopology & UV Mapping
We created game-ready meshes with optimized topology and efficient UV layouts to maximize texture resolution while maintaining performance.
Texturing & Materials
Using Substance Painter, we created PBR texture sets for each character, including diffuse, normal, roughness, and metallic maps.
Rigging & Animation
We developed advanced rigging systems with facial controls and created a library of animations for each character.
Challenges
Creating highly detailed character models that could run efficiently in a game engine was our biggest challenge. We had to carefully balance visual fidelity with performance requirements, developing custom LOD systems and optimizing our texture workflow to achieve the desired results.
Results
The character models were successfully implemented in the game and received praise for their detail and animation quality. The game achieved its performance targets while maintaining the high visual quality that was central to its sci-fi aesthetic.
